Real Madrid eye wonderkid transfer to fund pursuit of Chelsea's Fernandez
One of Real Madrid’s brightest wonderkids could be heading to the Premier League next year after receiving strong interest from a host of top English sides.
Madrid are looking to boost their transfer budget in order to go big on a star player next summer, such as Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez, and they could be given an ‘exciting’ opportunity for a big money deal from England.
According to fichajes, the likes of Sunderland, Wolves and Aston Villa have already contacted Los Blancos in the hopes of signing breakout striker Gonzalo Garcia.
Garcia has become part of Real’s first team this season after being named the joint top scorer of the summer’s Club World Cup with four goals, leading to his promotion from Castilla.
The 21-year-old had already grabbed attention by equalling the all-time record for most goals for Real Madrid Castilla last season with 25 but he has only managed to play 96 minutes in La Liga this season.
The Premier League sides interested in a deal are said to be prepared to submit an offer close to €20 million, which Real deem ‘appropriate’ despite strong belief in the Spaniard’s potential.
What does the future hold for Gonzalo Garcia?
Garcia extended his contract with Real in the summer until 2030 and he has since gone onto become a regular for Spain’s under-21 side but he has still found game time limited this season for the first team.
A move to the Premier League is seen as a perfect opportunity for Garcia to grow, with Sunderland having identified the youngster as an ideal addition to their young squad.
Villa, meanwhile, also believe that Garcia’s potential represents good value for their side, while Wolves will perhaps be behind their rivals in the race for his signature as they sit bottom of the Premier League.
Real may even look to insert a buy-back clause in any deal to ensure they do not lose control over a player who the club has high hopes for, with the acceptance that he still has a long way to ousting the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior in the senior side.
