Man Utd flop's career is OVER after Everton humiliation
Joshua Zirkzee will certainly be offloaded in January now after blowing his final chance to save his Man Utd career.
Zirkzee was handed a rare start for United at home to Everton on Monday after a freak injury sustained by Matheus Cunha.
It was Zirkzee's first start since April and when Everton were reduced to 10 men after just 13 minutes whebn Idriss Gueye was sent off, it seemed like a perfect opportunity for Zirkzee to impress.
However, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall fired Everton into a shock lead soon after and the Toffees comfortably held on for a 1-0 win.
Zirkzee flops on rare start
Zirkzee was particularly disappointing. He did not register a shot of any kind in the first half, while after the break he continued to make little impact on the game.
It now seems almost certain that the Dutchman will be sold or offloaded during the January transfer window having shown again his shortcomings in a United shirt.
United have not yet given the final green light for Zirkzee to leave but his performance against Everton will surely be the tipping point.
Zirkzee has played just 180 minutes of football for Man Utd this season and wants to leave in order to advance his career and to give him a chance of going to the World Cup with Netherlands next summer.
Roma, West Ham, Sevilla and Como have also been heavily linked.
Zirkzee joined Man Utd in the summer of 2024 in a €42.5 million move from Bologna.
The 23-year-old Zirkzee was one of the standout players in Serie A in the 2023-24 season, leading the club to historic qualification to the Champions League.
He was often compared to former Milan and Barcelona star Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
However, he has struggled to show that form at Man Utd and has been criticised for a lack of goal threat.
In total, Zirkzee has made 55 appearances for Utd and scored seven goals.
