Manchester United have been told that Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson will not be available on the cheap in January.

The 23-year-old is quickly emerging as one of the most in-demand players in the Premier League, having now established himself as a favourite of Thomas Tuchel in the England setup.

Anderson has been sensational for Nottingham Forest since joining last year, and it is widely believed that he will take the next step in his career in 2026, with Man Utd among his most persistent suitors.

Reliable journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed that, due to the nature of his 'complicated' contract, Anderson could be snapped up for a significantly cheaper price than initially anticipated in the summer.

It has been touted that Anderson could command as much as €137 million (£120m) next year, but Jacobs insists that his eventual price will be nowhere near that. In fact, it won't even be near the €114m (£100m) mark.

Anderson won't move in January

But what about January? Could the England star already be on his way to Old Trafford in the winter? According to TEAMtalk, the chances of that are slim to none.

The machinations that could allow for a cut-price summer exit will not be at play in January, meaning that Forest are in full control of the situation. Naturally, they have no intention of sanctioning an exit, let alone a cheap one.

The 'most likely scenario' for Man Utd remains that Casemiro will leave the club as a free agent in the summer and that a direct replacement, potentially Anderson, will be signed then.

“Any talk that Man Utd could land Anderson for £60m or anything close to that has been dismissed by my sources, and it is this £100m figure that is the price target for now," reporter Dean Jones is quoted as saying.

“There is no reason Forest would let him go for cheap, especially as he’s one of England’s main players for the World Cup, and there are a few clubs that would compete for the signing - that would help raise his fee.”
