Chelsea make SHOCK move for Arsenal wonderkid
Chelsea have started planning a shock move for Arsenal wonderkid Myles Lewis-Skelly.
Chelsea journalist Simon Phillips reports that Enzo Maresca’s side have completed ‘background checks’ on Lewis-Skelly ahead of the January transfer window.
The Blues are looking to potentially take advantage of Lewis-Skelly’s lack of game time with the Gunners given Riccardo Calafiori has become the club’s first choice left back this season.
But Phillips adds that Arsenal have made it clear they will not sell Myles-Skelly to their rivals.
The teenager himself also is reported to have no interest in moving to Chelsea and is happy at Arsenal.
Real Madrid are also said to be interested but Phillips says it will take an astronomical bid for Arsenal to even consider a sale.
Myles-Skelly to stay at Arsenal
The 19-year-old Myles-Skelly established himself as an integral member of Mikel Arteta’s first-team squad last season, however he has fallen down the pecking order this term due to Calafiori’s return from injury and the arrival of Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen.
Lewis-Skelly has made 12 appearances across all competitions so far this campaign, but he has only racked up 86 minutes of action in the Premier League and he is yet to start a match in the English top flight in 2025-26.
The teenager was dropped from the England national team squad for November fixtures against Serbia and Albania due to his lack of game time at Arsenal, and his place at the 2026 World Cup will be in serious doubt if he is unable to work his way back into favour under Arteta.
As a result, rumours of an exit have intensified in recent weeks and Sky Sports have confirmed that several Premier League clubs are keeping close tabs on Lewis-Skelly’s situation as they eye a possible transfer next year.
However, Phillips insists that Lewis-Skelly is likely to remain at Arsenal in 2026.
Lewis-Skelly still has over four-and-a-half years remaining on his current deal at Arsenal
