Morgan Rogers agrees new Aston Villa contract - David Ornstein
Morgan Rogers has agreed a new contract with Aston Villa, according to David Ornstein.
The England international is set to put to bed any speculation surrounding a 2026 transfer when he officially extends his contract with the Birmingham club in the coming days.
According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, a full agreement on terms has been reached between Rogers and Aston Villa, which is a massive boost for the club in what has been a mixed season so far.
After a stunning 2024/25 campaign, Rogers attracted plenty of attention in the summer, primarily from Chelsea. The Blues have continued to be linked with the 23-year-old attacking midfielder.
Handing Rogers a new contract - his third in just two years - was therefore a priority, and they have now managed to receive the final green light from the player.
Rogers to extend Villa deal
Given that Rogers only signed an extension until 2030 last year, Ornstein reports that Villa will add just one additional year to his terms with this latest renewal.
Rogers will be tied to the club until 2031, and he will receive a 'handsome' pay increase as a sign of appreciation from the club for his positive development since joining.
The England star, who has been included in Thomas Tuchel's latest squad, is expected to be elevated among Villa's highest earners when he officially puts pen to paper.
Rogers' relationship with Unai Emery has been crucial to keeping him at Villa Park. The player has fully bought into the manager's project and is clearly delighted to keep playing for the Spaniard.
Recent reports suggested that Villa were looking to fit Rogers with a release clause north of €100 million as part of his new deal, but Ornstein makes no mention of an exit clause in his report.
