Arsenal signing breakthrough! Bukayo Saka in ‘full agreement’ over HISTORIC new contract
Arsenal have reached a “full agreement” with Bukayo Saka over a new contract in a move that will delight manager Mikel Arteta.
FootballTransfers reported back in September that the Gunners were edging closer to an agreement with the England winger, and now it appears that the deal is done.
Saka has reached a deal with the Premier League leaders, with only the “finishing touches” of the contract left to be made before it is announced by Arsenal, The Daily Briefing claims.
A source close to the club has revealed: “Saka has reached a full agreement with the club on a new contract that will run until June 2030.
“Final touches on image rights, bonus structures, and media rollout are still being finalised. There are no issues - just a calculated delay aligned with Arsenal’s broader communication plan.”
Transfer expert Mark Brus believes that is simply a verbal agreement that has not been entirely cleared by the club yet.
Bukayo Saka to sign historic Arsenal deal
Saka is set to sign a contract that will run until 2030, with the 24-year-old’s three-year extension set to make him the best-paid player in Arsenal history, according to the report.
It claims that Saka will earn around £300,000 per week, which is a figure that takes into account bonuses. This would push him marginally ahead of Kai Havertz on the pay scale at the Emirates – something that few would quibble with.
Who is Arsenal’s top earner ever?
This claim runs contrary to previous reports that indicated that Mesut Ozil was being paid around £350,000 per week during his stint at Arsenal.
It was a figure that caused great controversy at the time, with Arteta saying that he would not simply pick the controversial Germany international playmaker on the strength of his pay packet alone.
“Ozil's contract is an agreement that the player and club were happy to do, to move ahead and it is never something that I question,” the Arsenal manager told Sky Sports at the time.
“I think players are paid whatever they deserve because there are two parties here and that should never be something I have to judge.”
The moment Mikel Arteta has been waiting for
Arteta has previously backed Saka to sign a new deal with Arsenal and had indicated an agreement was close.
“I would love that. From everything that I know, again he’s a player that is extremely happy and proud to be [here] and to have the role that he has in the football club … Everyone knows how important Bukayo is for us so hopefully we can do it,” the Spaniard said.
Now it seems that it is only a matter of time before Saka’s new Arsenal contract is made official after a long wait.
