Arsenal ROCKED by Martin Odegaard exit threat
Barcelona are reportedly interested in completing a deal for Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard next summer.
The Norway international has been plagued by several injury issues so far this campaign and he has only been able to make seven appearances since the beginning of 2025-26 as a result.
Despite this, Odegaard remains one of Arsenal’s most important players and Barcelona have earmarked him as a key target for 2026 amid their pursuit of additional midfield reinforcements.
That is according to renowned X account IndyKaila, who posted on social media: “FC Barcelona have added Martin Odegaard to their shortlist.
“We understand Barcelona believes the player is ready for a major career change. The Spanish club will make their move in June.”
Hansi Flick’s side already boast the likes of Pedri, Gavi, Frenkie de Jong, Fermin Lopez and Dani Olmo in their midfield ranks, however they have still reportedly identified Odegaard as a possible signing for next summer.
The Norway superstar will have two years remaining on his current Arsenal contract when the 2026 summer transfer window opens and Barcelona believe he could be tempted to leave north London if they lodge a suitable offer.
However, Odegaard’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) stands at over €80 million and given his status as club captain, Arsenal will be reluctant to grant a sale unless Barcelona are willing to pay a substantial fee.
Barcelona to sign Martin Odegaard?
Odegaard spent six years at Barcelona’s fierce-rivals Real Madrid before moving to Arsenal in 2021, although he failed to establish himself as a regular at the Santiago Bernabeu, despite his reputation as one of Europe’s most exciting youngsters.
In total, the Norwegian made just 11 first-team appearances for Los Blancos during his time at the club, while he was sent on four separate loan spells to Heerenveen, Vitesse Arnhem, Real Sociedad and Arsenal.
The 26-year-old impressed during his temporary spell at the Emirates Stadium and Arsenal paid €35m to make the deal permanent in August 2021.
Since arriving in north London, Odegaard has emerged as one of the best players in the Premier League and he has already played over 200 times for the Gunners.
