Palace accepted an offer for Guehi of around €40 million from Liverpool on deadline day but they eventually pulled out of the deal at the last moment after failing to sign a suitable replacement.

The situation was intensified by reports of Palace manager Oliver Glasner allegedly threatening to quit if Guehi was sold, while the player himself was said to be furious over the collapse, however he has since moved on from the setback.

"The sun goes up, the sun goes down, life goes on," Guehi told TNT Sports. "That's my mindset, and if you adopt that mindset in most things, you just get on with life and move on.

“Fortunately for me, I'm at a football club that has helped me and given me so much, so it does make it that much easier."

“I don’t have much to say, to be honest,” Guehi added. “I’m focused on playing football and playing for Palace. “But to the fans I want to say thank you very much for your support. I definitely feel it.”

Liverpool face fight for renewed Guehi transfer

Guehi is now expected to leave Palace on a free transfer next summer when his contract expires, with the Eagles unlikely to cash in on their captain in January after an impressive start to the new season.

Although Guehi remains a top target for Liverpool, Arne Slot’s side are aware that they will face significant competition in the 25-year-old, with Real Madrid among the sides credited with an interest.

Much will also depend on the future of Ibrahima Konate, who himself is out of contract next summer and wanted by Real, although Liverpool are believed to be optimistic of convincing the Frenchman to sign a new deal.

In the meantime, Guehi appears to be content with his current situation, with the England international set to play an important part of Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the World Cup next summer.
