Kobbie Mainoo receives Man Utd transfer confirmation
Manchester United have reportedly confirmed to Kobbie Mainoo that a final decision on a possible January transfer will not be made until later this year.
The England midfielder is yet to start a Premier League match so far this season and widespread reports have suggested that he could be allowed to depart during the winter transfer window.
Mainoo was eager to leave Old Trafford on loan this summer, however the Red Devils opted to block an exit despite the fact he is no longer in Ruben Amorim’s favoured starting XI.
It’s understood that Mainoo will push to leave Man Utd once again in January, but TBR Football have revealed that he will be forced to wait until the end of 2025 before learning whether or not a transfer will take place.
The 20-year-old’s current deal at Old Trafford is due to expire in 2027 and with contract extension talks stalling, a permanent exit is reportedly on the cards during the mid-season transfer window.
Bournemouth, Chelsea, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are all reportedly interested in signing Mainoo, while FootballTransfers understands that Brighton & Hove Albion explored the possibility of a transfer over the summer.
Man Utd to sign Kobbie Mainoo replacement?
With Mainoo out of favour under Amorim, Man Utd have been heavily linked with a number of central midfielders ahead of the January transfer window.
Elliott Anderson (Nottingham Forest) and Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace) have both been earmarked as priority targets by the Red Devils hierarchy, as per multiple reports, while the 13-time Premier League champions have also been tipped to rekindle their interest in Brighton star Carlos Baleba.
However, Man Utd may potentially need to offload Mainoo before signing a new midfielder after spending a whopping €250.7 million on five new signings during the summer transfer window.
