Fabrizio Romano says €60m star is ideal for Man Utd - and they want him
Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller would be perfect for Manchester United, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Germany international is a well-known target for the Red Devils, with links already emerging in the previous summer window. At the time, the interest did not develop into anything concrete, despite some reports suggesting that Man Utd had made an offer.
It could be a different story in 2026, however. Stiller is said to be open to a new challenge after becoming one of the best midfielders in the Bundesliga at Stuttgart, and the club won't stand in his way if their €60 million valuation is met.
Stiller currently has a €40m release clause, but Stuttgart will get rid of it in exchange for a €2m compensation fee before the next summer window opens. If he continues to perform at a high level, it is possible that they will raise their asking price beyond €60m.
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has confirmed reports from Germany that Man Utd are genuinely interested in Stiller, although he has made sure to emphasise that he is far from their only midfield target.
Romano: Stiller would be ideal for Man Utd
Man Utd tried to sign Brighton star Carlos Baleba in the summer, but Romano insists that they have yet to decide on their number-one target for upcoming windows. What is clear, though, is that they will sign a new star midfielder in 2026.
Stiller, although quite different to Baleba, is firmly in the mix, and Romano believes that the 24-year-old would be an ideal reinforcement for the Old Trafford outfit. However, Man Utd are not his only admirers.
"There are German clubs keen on Stiller, but at the moment, nothing is concrete, and they are just tracking the player," Romano told GIVEMESPORT. "He is good in possession, has good vision and is consistent, so he could be the kind of player needed by Man Utd."
2025 was the year of strikers, while 2026 is shaping up to be the year of midfielders. Several big hitters in England and around Europe will be in the market for new players for their engine room, and Stiller will be one of the names to watch.
