Amorim STUNNED as Man Utd quoted €137m asking price for priority target
Manchester United have been quoted a €137 million asking price for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson.
The Red Devils are looking to sign a dynamic, younger partner for Bruno Fernandes who can offer better balance in midfield than the ageing Casemiro and the disappointing Manuel Ugarte, both of whom could be on their way out in 2026.
Carlos Baleba was pursued in the summer and reportedly remains Ruben Amorim's preferred target. The Red Devils' interest has affected the youngster's performances, but Brighton are unlikely to offer any discounts and will likely demand north of €100m next year.
Alternative targets are therefore being explored, with the likes of Adam Wharton, Conor Gallagher, Morten Hjulmand and Elliot Anderson all associated with the Old Trafford club in recent weeks.
Anderson, in particular, appears to have left club bosses impressed, with Sky Germany confirming that the Red Devils are genuinely interested in the newly-minted England international.
Man Utd told Anderson asking price
Transfer insider Florian Plettenberg has also corroborated that Newcastle are considering re-signing the 22-year-old. Eddie Howe recently admitted that he still regrets that the Magpies were forced into selling him to Nottingham Forest last year due to financial reasons.
It is, however, doubtful if Newcastle would be able to afford him in 2026, as his stock has skyrocketed since leaving St. James' Park. According to Plettenberg, Forest have slapped an asking price of €115m-€137m (£100m-£120m) on the midfielder.
Anderson does not have a release clause in his deal, which still runs until 2029. Forest will be under no pressure to sell in 2026 and won't make life easy for his suitors.
Man Utd and Newcastle are said to have already officially registered their interest in the all-action midfielder. However, it is clear that Anderson will not really be that much cheaper than Baleba.
