Man Utd's next striker transfer demands €7m-per-year contract
Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a bargain striker for next summer but they will have to shelve out a significant salary in order to beat their rivals to his transfer.
United spent more than €200 million on attackers this summer, with the club pinning their hopes up front on the €76m signing of Benjamin Sesko, however the 22-year-old has netted just one goal in his first six Premier League appearances.
Having still been left unsatisfied by his attacking options, Ruben Amorim will likely look to add a more experienced striker next summer, although United’s other priorities means they are unlikely to splash further cash on another forward.
The situation has led to interest in Dusan Vlahovic, who is expected to leave Juventus when his contract expires next summer and his availability on a free transfer has intrigued United.
Vlahovic had been offered to virtually every team across Europe during the summer including United, with Juve desperate to cash in and get his salary off the books, but no teams were willing to match their €30m asking price.
According to calciomercato, Vlahovic rejected moves to teams such as Villarreal as he is still holding out for a team that can pay his salary of €7m, which is he is likely to demand to United if they wish to sign him on a free transfer next summer.
Vlahovic wages set to determine Juventus future and Man Utd interest
Vlahovic has shown glimpses of recapturing his best form this season, having scored four goals in all competitions already after a disappointing campaign last year.
Juve still see Vlahovic as an important first team player, particularly with summer signings Jonathan David and Lois Openda still yet to open their accounts for their new club, but they are resigned to the Serbian leaving next summer.
Although a new contract has not been completely ruled out by Juve, efforts to convince Vlahovic to lower his wage demands have proven futile so far and a move away is considered as the best option for all parties.
United will be among the frontrunners to target Vlahovic next summer given his contractual status but much will depend on the outcome of this season, with the Premier League side likely reluctant to sanction big wages if they once again miss out on European football.
