Man Utd line up BARGAIN move for ‘Japanese Messi’
Real Sociedad have decided to sell Man Utd-target Takefusa Kubo for far below his release clause at the end of the season.
Kubo, referred to by some as the 'Japanese Messi', is expected to leave Real Sociedad in the summer of 2026.
That is according to Spanish publication Fichajes, who report that Sociedad will cash in on the winger at the end of the season.
Kubo has a release clause of €60 million in his contract but the report says that Real Sociedad will accept a transfer fee far below this.
Kubo to Man Utd?
Fichajes adds that Man Utd are lining up a bid for the 24-year-old but there is also interest from Tottenham and Everton.
Kubo is a diminutive left-footed right-winger who likes to cut inside and dribble.
He has scored 24 goals in 145 games at Real Sociedad in four seasons.
Kubo, a Japan international who spent time in the academies of both Barcelona and Real Madrid, is said to be unhappy with life with the San Sebastian side currently.
He is frustrated by his own inconsistency but also the lack of reinforcements that La Real made this summer to replace the likes of Martin Zubimendi, who left for Arsenal.
Real Madrid will be monitoring developments in this case closely. Xabi Alonso’s side still possess 50% of the economic rights to any future sale, which complicates matters for any Man Utd bid.
Kubo has never hit double figures in goals in a single season and has netted once in eight outings for Real Sociedad this term.
He has been capped 46 times by Japan and scored seven goals for his country.
