In June 2026, Napoli will have to decide whether to make the transfer permanent for a further €44m, which is payable in five installments.

If Napoli do make the transfer permanent, Man Utd will be owed 7.5 per cent on the profit of any future sale. They will also possess a buyback clause which allows them to match the offer of any bid which Napoli accept from another club.

Hojlund great start for Napoli

Hojlund enjoyed a fantastic week last week with Napoli as he scored the winner in successive matches against Sporting Lisbon and Genoa, firing home a double versus the Portuguese side in the Champions League.

Despite struggling in his two years at United, Hojlund has immediately impressed at Napoli and now has four goals this season in six games.

Hojlund explained the reasons after the Genoa game why he left United to join Conte at Napoli.

“Conte is a top coach. I came here because I knew this was an important step for me," the Denmark star explained.

"Napoli is a great club, and a wonderful place to live. It’s exactly what I need right now in my career.”

Hojlund was no longer in manager Ruben Amorim's plans for the season and had not played a minute this campaign when he left.

Man Utd signed Hojlund in the summer of 2023 from Atalanta for €75 million plus €10m in add-ons.

The 22-year-old struggled badly, failing to score a single Premier League goal before Christmas in his first season.

Despite picking up in the second half of the campaign, he was a disaster in his second season.

Hojlund scored just four Premier League goals all season and United gave up on the striker.

Napoli decided to move for Hojlund after Romelu Lukaku suffered a long-term injury that will keep him out until close to Christmas.

AC Milan had been favourites for Hojlund but Napoli moved in to close the deal.
