Enzo Fernandez 'opens door' to Chelsea exit
Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has “opened the door” to a shock Stamford Bridge exit in a bid to join Real Madrid, according to a sensational report in Spain.
The Argentina international has been continuously linked with a Santiago Bernabeu switch over the past year and multiple reports in the Spanish press suggest that he dreams of completing a blockbuster move to Los Blancos.
Real Madrid outlet Defensa Central now speculatively claim that Fernandez is prioritising a transfer to the Spanish giants in 2026 and he is eager to impress at Chelsea this season in order to help his chances of signing for Xabi Alonso’s side.
The 24-year-old’s agent is reportedly aware of Fernandez’s desire to join Real Madrid next summer and the Argentina midfielder has kept the door open to a blockbuster transfer, despite the fact his current Chelsea contract isn’t due to expire until 2032.
Fernandez has started all 10 of Chelsea’s matches across all competitions so far this season, registering four goal contributions, and although he is reportedly eager to join Real Madrid, he remains an integral member of Enzo Maresca’s squad at Stamford Bridge.
Real Madrid target Enzo Fernandez
Real Madrid have also been linked with Fernandez’s Chelsea team-mate Moises Caicedo in recent weeks, although CaughtOffside claim that Paris Saint-Germain are likely to challenge them for the Ecuador international’s signature.
Angelo Stiller remains a long-term target too, while Adam Wharton, Vitinha, Joao Neves and Kobbie Mainoo have all been linked with Los Blancos since the summer transfer window slammed shut on 1 September.
Alonso currently has a midfield roster of Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde, Aurelien Tchouameni, Dani Ceballos, Jude Bellingham and Arda Guler, however Real Madrid are reportedly still eager to sign a replacement for club legend Luka Modric following his departure on a Bosman deal.
