His young age at 21 also attracts the decision men at Chelsea, who see him as the right profile sportingly and financially.

Wharton battle with Man Utd

But Chelsea face a battle with Man Utd to sign Wharton.

The midfielder is also a top target for the Red Devils who have made the centre mid a top priority in 2026.

Wharton would not be available until next summer and he would not come cheap, with Palace likely to demand at least €80 million.

Tottenham and Liverpool are also interested but Chelsea and Man Utd are seen as the two favourites for the player.

The midfielder has been labelled by some as the ‘new Declan Rice’ due to his ability as a holding midfielder.
