The 28-year-old has been out of action since January due to an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and he has been tipped to leave Mikel Arteta’s side in 2026 amid significant transfer interest.

Jesus has been described as Palmeiras’ dream signing by the club’s president Leila Pereira, while Flamengo are also eager to bring him back to his homeland next year as they look to bolster their attacking roster.

This has been confirmed by Spanish outlet Fichajes, who claim that the two clubs are now at “war” over the signing of Jesus.

It’s understood that Arsenal are willing to sanction a departure next year, with Flamengo reportedly aiming to finalise a deal for his signature during the upcoming January transfer window. They have already initiated talks over a potential loan deal, although Jesus is said to favour a move back to Palmeiras.

Gabriel Jesus issues transfer message

News that Palmeiras and Flamengo are currently at war over Jesus’ signature comes after the Arsenal star addressed speculation over his future in north London.

Speaking to Placar ahead of Arsenal’s 1-0 victory against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon, Jesus admitted: “My main focus is to come back and come back well.

“Every day, the coach and the board tell me they’re looking forward to my return. I don’t see myself outside the club’s plans. I have a contract until 2027, and that’s where I’ll be.

“The interest from Palmeiras will always exist, both from them and from me. But there’s been nothing formal. It’s just the natural interest of a kid who came from their academy and dreams of going back one day.

“I watch a lot of La Liga and Serie A matches, and I think both leagues have beautiful football. Of course, it makes you curious to experience it one day, but my wish is to win titles with Arsenal.”

Jesus has scored 26 goals and provided 20 assists in 96 appearances since joining Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022, but he is expected to leave the club next year following the Gunners’ decision to sign Viktor Gyokeres this summer.
