Lucas Stassin: The wonderkid striker YOUR club will try to sign in 2026
Lucas Stassin is already one of Europe's hottest striker commodities, but his club AS Saint-Etienne have steadfastly rejected any and all approaches for him this summer.
The Belgium youth international was a rare positive in what was otherwise a dire campaign for the French club last term, ultimately ending in relegation back to Ligue 2.
Stassin notched a solid 12 goals in 28 Ligue 1 outings for the struggling side, having joined the club shortly before the 2024 summer deadline after netting twice and providing three assists for Westerlo in their opening five games of the 2024/25 season.
Hailing from a family of footballers, the 20-year-old is currently a regular fixture for Belgium's U21s, and many would have expected him to jump ship when Saint-Etienne were relegated.
However, the club's wealthy owners, Kilmer Sports Ventures, have had other ideas. Over the past few months, there have been multiple reports every week, claiming that ASSE rejected lucrative approaches for the youngster.
Stassin to be sought after in 2026
Saint-Etienne recently rebuffed a whopping €40 million offer from Saudi giants Al-Hilal, and they have now reportedly also rejected an ambitious €37m bid from CSKA Moscow, which would have shattered the Russian side's club record.
Stassin currently boasts an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €21m, making him easily the most valuable player in Ligue 2 and already the 15th most valuable Belgian player in world football.
Stassin was one of Ligue 1's best-performing strikers last season, according to data analytics firm SciSports
Given the interest that already exists in his services, it is not inconceivable that European powerhouses will come calling in 2026 if he manages to impress again this term.
The young striker will be one to keep an eye on going forward. Dropping down to Ligue 2 will be a slight blotch on his CV, but if he can fire ASSE back into the top flight, he is sure to attract Premier League attention.
