Fabrizio Romano CONFIRMS €95m star to sign for Spurs
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on a major Deadline Day signing.
Spurs have had a frustrating transfer window, missing out on several important targets such as Morgan Gibbs-White, Eberechi Eze and Bryan Mbeumo, but Thomas Frank’s side are poised to make a big splash in the final hours of the market.
Romano says that the Premier League giants are set to complete a deal for PSG striker Randal Kolo Muani.
The transfer insider says: “Tottenham have almost agreed personal terms with Randal Kolo Muani.
“Negotiations ongoing with PSG on deal formula as revealed, with Spurs insisting for an obligation to buy.”
Kolo Muani: A wanted man in the Premier League
Kolo Muani was signed by PSG in 2023 for €95 million from Eintracht Frankfurt but struggled to make an impression in Luis Enrique’s side when competing with Kylian Mbappe for the centre-forward role.
Even when Mbappe left for Real Madrid, the World Cup finalist remained peripheral to the coach’s plans and ultimately moved to Juventus during the January transfer window. He scored eight goals in 16 Serie A appearances for the Turin giants last term.
Juve had hoped to sign the 26-year-old on a permanent basis this summer but came up short. Instead, they will sign Lois Openda from RB Leipzig.
Kolo Muani has previously been linked with both Newcastle and Manchester United this summer. L’Equipe indicated that Aston Villa also held an interest going into Deadline Day, but he is now primed to sign for Tottenham, who are looking for more attacking firepower.
A penalty box poacher, the France international has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €33m, but PSG will aim for a bigger return on the centre-forward than that figure having spent so lavishly on him just a couple of years ago.
