OFFICIAL: Daniel Levy resigns as Tottenham chairman
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has stepped down from his role after almost 25 years.
The 63-year-old has announced his resignation from his role as Spurs' 'Executive Chairman,' having occupied the post since 2001, making him the longest-serving chairman in the Premier League.
The North London club became one of the Premier League's biggest and most recognisable sides under Levy's watch, but the businessman has come under increasing criticism from supporters in recent years over a perceived lack of ambition.
His decision to step down has come as a shock to the football world, but it is clearly something Levy planned for a while, with Tottenham having diversified their leadership in recent months by adding new management roles.
The club has announced that Peter Charrington "will step into the newly created role of Non-Executive Chairman," seemingly replacing Levy in some capacity.
Levy leaves Spurs
“I am incredibly proud of the work I have done together with the executive team and all our employees," Levy said in an official statement. "We have built this club into a global heavyweight competing at the highest level.
"More than that, we have built a community. I was lucky enough to work with some of the greatest people in this sport, from the team at Lilywhite House and Hotspur Way to all the players and managers over the years.

“I wish to thank all the fans that have supported me over the years. It hasn’t always been an easy journey but significant progress has been made. I will continue to support this club passionately.”
Despite Levy's resignation, Spurs have announced that their ownership structure has not changed. Levy's ENIC International Ltd. retains majority control of the North London club.
