Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that 'many clubs' are interested in Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton.

The 21-year-old has been a revelation for the Eagles since joining in January 2024, even making the England squad for Euro 2024 after just six months in the Premier League.

Although niggling injuries have repeatedly disrupted his momentum, Wharton has shown himself to be one of English football's most exciting talents in the middle of the park.

Perhaps somewhat surprisingly, Crystal Palace did not receive any offers for Wharton this summer, or at least not any that the public is aware of. The focus of suitors was instead on Eberechi Eze, Marc Guehi and Jean-Philippe Mateta.

However, it is unlikely that it will be a similar story again next year. On the contrary, transfer insider Fabrizio Romano expects major movement for the young midfielder in 2026.

Romano confirms Wharton interest

In recent weeks, Wharton has been linked with a host of clubs, primarily Man Utd and Real Madrid, while the names of Chelsea and Liverpool have also cropped up from time to time.

According to Romano, 'many Premier League clubs' are interested in the 21-year-old, while he has also outright confirmed that Real Madrid are keeping tabs on his performances.

"Many top clubs in England, even in Spain, are monitoring Wharton at Crystal Palace," Romano said on his YouTube channel. "I don't think now is the time to say that he's going to move for sure in 2026.

"The focus of the player is on Palace, is on playing every single game, is on being an important player for Oliver Glasner and for Palace. They play European football.

"He wants to go to the World Cup in 2026. And this was one of the reasons why maybe moving this summer was something that Palace never considered. But also on the player's side, he was happy to stay at Palace to give his best for Palace and then eventually move in the future.

"So I think if something happens, it's going to be after the World Cup. In 2026, I would not be surprised if something happens because Premier League clubs, but also clubs in Spain, including Real Madrid, are monitoring the boy."
