Dream Man Utd scenario: Coach predicts TOP transfer for Onana in 2026
Andre Onana will bounce back at Trabzonspor this season and secure a big transfer away from Manchester United next summer, according to Carlos Kameni.
The Cameroon international officially left Man Utd on Thursday to join Turkish side Trabzonspor on a season-long loan after losing his place in the Red Devils' side.
Ruben Amorim deemed Onana surplus to requirements, and the goalkeeper accepted that it would be better to play regularly in Turkey than to rot in the stands at Old Trafford.
It is a lucrative move for him, too, as the 29-year-old is believed to be among the five best-paid players in the entire Super Lig, with Trabzonspor paying him more than Man Utd did.
However, Onana's deal at Trabzonspor is only for this season and does not include any permanent elements, meaning that he will return to Man Utd next summer.
Onana to get big transfer in 2026
This will not be an issue for the shot-stopper, according to Cameroon's goalkeeping coach Carlos Kameni, who believes that Onana will bounce back and secure a transfer to a top-five league next year.
This is exactly what Man Utd want to hear given that they spent €50 million on the goalkeeper and want to recoup a large chunk of that outlay when they offload him for good.
"It's a good choice," Kameni told Africafoot. "Andre was struggling at Man Utd. Last season, he was heavily criticised, and since the start of the season, he's hardly played, and everyone, including him, understood that he might spend a lot of time on the bench or in the stands.
"He had the opportunity to be loaned to Trabzonspor, one of the four best Turkish clubs, which tries to compete every year with the big three of Istanbul: Galatasaray, Besiktas and Fenerbahce."
The former Fenerbahce goalkeeper added: "I told him he was right. It's a good choice. It's better to be a starter at a very good club in a good league than a substitute at a big club in a big league, right?
"In Turkey, he will certainly be watched, because he's a very good goalkeeper, but I think he will be under a little less pressure than at Manchester United.
"Yes," Kameni responded when asked if Onana will be back in a top-five league next year. "He hasn't lost his qualities at Man Utd. As can happen to all great athletes, he may experience a more complicated spell for a few months.
"Onana is very professional, he remains a sure bet, and if he has a good season in Turkey, he will be in demand next summer. But for now, let's let him settle into his new club, get to know his coaching staff and his teammates. He'll definitely play quickly. He's ready, he's very motivated."
