Manchester United could finally have a landing spot for Andre Onana despite the Premier League transfer window being closed after a new club emerged for his signature.

Onana has become surplus to requirements at Old Trafford after several poor displays which have seen him fall down the pecking order under Ruben Amorim.

Altay Bayindir has started United’s three Premier League games this season, while the signing of Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens on deadline day has all but s€ealed Onana’s fate after the Cameroonian’s disappointing performance in the club’s Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby.

United now find themselves with four senior goalkeepers on the books and the club are keen to move Onana on following Lammens’ arrival, with Bayindir likely to be the backup along with veteran Tom Heaton.

But with United having signed Onana for €50 million in 2023 and him being among the club’s top earners, finding the 29-year-old a new club has proven to be a difficult task despite his availability.

Interest from the Saudi Pro League is understood to still be prevalent, with the league’s transfer window still open, and a new club could also offer Onana an escape route in the coming days.

Onana wanted by Turkish club

A report from Turkish outlet Takvim claims that contact has been made by Trabzonspor to sign Onana after their long-serving goalkeeper and captain Ugurcan Cakir moved to rivals Galatasaray.

Trabzonspor are understood to have made a loan offer for Onana after failing in a move for Manchester City’s Stefan Ortega, although the majority of the goalkeeper’s wagwes would likely have to be covered by United.

United are considering Trabzonspor’s offer and, while they would prefer a permanent sale for Onana, they are realistic about their limited options and could sanction the departure.

Onana has also been hesitant to leave United and is believed to be pushing for a new contract after seeing his wages drop by 25% due to the club’s failure to qualify for European football and it remains to be seen whether he would be open to a move to one of Turkey’s less reputable sides.
