‘DISGRUNTLED’ Erling Haaland up for sale at ‘SPECIAL’ price
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland will be available for a “special” price next summer and there are clubs waiting to take advantage, according to a report in Spain.
Haaland has established himself as one of the leading stars in world football since moving to City in 2022. The Norway international has been a prolific scorer throughout his career and is well on his way to claiming the Premier League Golden Boot after a strong start to the current campaign.
Although he signed a 10-year contract with Man City last season, it is stated by Fichajes that the Premier League side could be willing to part with him for just €100 million in summer 2026.
The report states that there is no release clause in his deal but it does claim that Haaland is “disgruntled” with life at the Etihad Stadium.
With Pep Guardiola unwilling to retain anyone who is not fully committed to the cause, Haaland could be allowed to depart.
Fichajes adds that Barcelona are interested in taking advantage of this situation. He is seen as the “natural heir” to Robert Lewandowski at Camp Nou and is the “top priority” for the No.9 role next summer.
Real Madrid are also linked with a move for Haaland, with Vinicius Junior’s future at the Bernabeu still hanging in the balance due to his ongoing contract dispute.
Is Haaland leaving Man City for €100m?
There’s little about this claim that adds up.
Haaland may not be happy about City’s current form but there has been no public suggestion that he is ready to give up on life at the Etihad. He is certainly not playing like someone who is fed up with life at his current side, having netted five goals in four games.
The suggestion that he could leave for as little as €100m appears well off the mark, too. Haaland is the most valuable player in the world, commanding an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €187m - well above this suggested price.
Even if Guardiola were willing to allow the prolific striker to depart, it would be hugely surprising if it were done as such a discounted figure.
