Fulham have rekindled their interest in Chelsea outcast Raheem Sterling, according to football transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano.

The 30-year-old was placed in Chelsea’s ‘Bomb Squad’ following the appointment of Enzo Maresca last summer and he has once again been deemed surplus to requirements upon his return from an unsuccessful loan spell at Arsenal.

Sterling secured a reunion with his former Manchester City coach Mikel Arteta on Transfer Deadline Day in 2024, however he only started seven Premier League games for Arsenal last season, scoring just one goal in 28 appearances across all competitions for the club.

The Gunners unsurprisingly opted against signing him on a permanent deal ahead of the 2025-26 campaign and Sterling has been forced to train alone for the entire summer.

There has been very little interest in the 30-year-old since his return to Chelsea, although Fulham have been tentatively linked with a move throughout the summer transfer window.

Marco Silva’s side have now intensified their pursuit of Sterling’s signature as the 7pm deadline edges ever closer.

That is according to the aforementioned Romano, who posted on X: “EXCL: Fulham revive Raheem Sterling as talks continue also for Kevin (no agreement with the player) and Samu Chukwueze.

“Sterling, option considered by Fulham today.”

Raheem Sterling to leave Chelsea?

If Fulham ultimately decide against signing Sterling on Deadline Day, he looks set to remain at Chelsea until at least January.

The Blues also face the prospect of retaining both Ben Chilwell and Axel Disasi, with the two defenders yet to finalise a departure, despite being cast aside by Maresca.

Chelsea have already offloaded Alex Matos (permanent to Sheffield United) and Omari Kellyman (loan to Cardiff City) so far on Deadline Day, while several others transfers, including Facundo Buonanotte’s loan move from Brighton & Hove Albion, are expected to be finalised before 7pm.
