Chelsea prepare €80m January bid as Boehly goes 'ALL OUT'
Chelsea are reportedly prepared to go “all out” to secure the signing of Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez in January.
The 22-year-old was heavily linked with a Stamford Bridge switch during the final few days of the summer transfer window, but a deal failed to materialise and Enzo Maresca’s side opted to sign Facundo Buonanotte on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion instead.
Although the Blues were unsuccessful in their pursuit of Fermin this summer, they are expected to rekindle their interest in his services when the January transfer window opens.
In fact, Spanish outlet Fichajes even claim that Chelsea have already prepared an €80 million offer for the Barcelona star as they look to go “all out” to acquire his signature during the winter window.
Hansi Flick is eager to keep Fermin at Camp Nou, but Chelsea will reportedly push to bring him to the Premier League in January as they look to bolster the midfield options available to Maresca.
Fermin Lopez speaks out on Chelsea interest
While on international duty with Spain, Fermin responded to the speculation that linked him with a move to Chelsea over the summer.
“Well, in the end, my priority has always been to be at Barca,” the midfielder told Mundo Deportivo. “I arrived when I was 12; it was my dream to be here, to be able to reach the first team.
“It's always a compliment when there's interest from other clubs, but the truth is, I always had the idea of staying at Barca and being able to succeed here.
“I've always fought to be here, to play for Barca. My goal is to stay here. You know, in football you never know and there are things that don't depend on you, but my priority has always been to stay at Barca.”
Fermin, whose Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) stands at €57.1m, has four years left on his current contract at Barcelona and Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that he remains on Chelsea’s transfer radar.
