'Best player in the world' REJECTS Deadline Day Chelsea transfer
Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos has reportedly rejected a €50 million move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah.
The Brazil international returned to Stamford Bridge in June, following an extremely successful 18-month loan spell at Strasbourg, and he is expected to play a key role under Enzo Maresca this term.
However, Santos is yet to start a Premier League game so far this season and he has been linked with a Chelsea exit on multiple occasions over the past few weeks.
West Ham United reportedly failed with a €53m bid in mid-August, while Manchester United also expressed their interest in the 21-year-old during talks with Chelsea over Alejandro Garnacho’s move to west London.
Despite this, Chelsea opted to block a possible transfer as they view Santos as a crucial member of their first-team squad for years to come.
The Brazilian has now rejected the chance to leave Stamford Bridge, with Al-Qadsiah failing to lure him to Saudi Arabia.
That is according to Diario AS reporter Eduardo Burgos, who posted on X: “Andrey Santos rejects Al Qadsiah!
“They made an offer of €50m to Chelsea. They consider him an important part of the team.
“The player's dream is to play in the next World Cup 2026 with Brazil. He understands that at Chelsea he will have more options. [Carlo] Ancelotti adores him.”
Andrey Santos: The best player in the world?
Santos made 45 appearances, scoring 12 goals and providing five assists, across his loan spell at Strasbourg and his form in France prompted team-mate Diego Moreira to describe him as “the best player in the world” back in March.
Despite links with a host of top European clubs following his time at Strasbourg, Santos was always expected to return to Chelsea and the Blues are determined to retain his services as they believe he will play a prominent role at Stamford Bridge over the next few years.
Furthermore, Santos’ current contract with the west London giants isn’t due to expire until 2030, meaning Chelsea are under no pressure to offload him.
