Fabrizio Romano: Rodrygo transfer ON after massive triple deal
Manchester City will explore a move for Real Madrid winger Rodrygo after offloading Jack Grealish, Savinho and James McAtee, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Cityzens started the transfer window with a bang - agreeing four deals ahead of the Club World Cup - and they are now set to end it with a bang, too.
Man City are currently in talks over three major exits. Tottenham have made an opening bid in the region of €50 million for winger Savinho, and the player is keen on the move. According to Fabrizio Romano, City want more, but there is a good chance of this deal materialising.
Significantly more advanced are the transfers of Jack Grealish and James McAtee. The former is already on Merseyside for his Everton medical ahead of a season-long loan. The Toffees will have a purchase option next summer.
As for McAtee, Man City are finalising a deal with Nottingham Forest that will see the midfielder head to the City Ground for a fee in excess of €20 million. There had been talks with Bundesliga clubs, but he has opted for Forest after the confirmation of their place in the Europa League.
Man City to explore Rodrygo deal
With these three departures under wraps, Man City will need to bring in an attacking reinforcement. Earlier on Monday, it was posited that this reinforcement could be Real Madrid star Rodrygo, and Romano has now confirmed that this is indeed a possibility.
Pep Guardiola is a long-term admirer of the Brazilian, and FootballTransfers exclusively revealed last summer that Man City had enquired about Rodrygo. At the time, he was unwilling to leave Real Madrid, but the situation has drastically changed.
Los Blancos are listening to offers for the winger, and the decision on whether to stay or leave now rests squarely with the player. Romano states that Man City are considering a move for the Brazilian, but there is no guarantee that the move will happen.
Rodrygo recently had a clear-the-air talk with Xabi Alonso, but he has yet to make a firm decision on his future. Ideally, he would like to stay at Real Madrid, but if they can't guarantee him regular minutes, he will have to move on.
The Spanish giants would want around €100m for the 24-year-old. Arsenal and Liverpool have also been linked with him, but it now looks as though Man City have the best chances of securing his signature.
