It's official! PSG have pushed Donnarumma one step closer to Man Utd
PSG have officially excluded Gianluigi Donnarumma from their squad for the UEFA Super Cup.
The Champions League winners will face Europa League champions Tottenham in Udine on Wednesday evening, but PSG will be without the standout performer of last season's European campaign.
The Parisians have omitted goalkeeper Donnarumma from their squad to face Spurs, further escalating the ongoing transfer saga surrounding the Italy international.
PSG are looking to force the 26-year-old out of the club, with Donnarumma having refused to extend his contract. His current deal expires next year, and the treble winners, naturally, do not want to lose him for nothing.
New signing Lucas Chevalier will be PSG's new No.1 going forward. The France international is expected to start the Super Cup clash with Tottenham at the Bluenergy Stadium.
Donnarumma pushed closer to the Premier League
PSG's decision to snub Donnarumma has likely pushed him one step closer to an exit this summer, but the Italian is known to be a stubborn character and could yet decide to simply run down his contract.
However, sitting on the bench - or in the stands - during a World Cup year could come back to haunt him. Either way, a host of suitors are keenly watching developments in Paris.
Earlier on Monday, it was confirmed that Man Utd and Chelsea had begun laying the groundwork for a potential transfer of the shot-stopper, although it was acknowledged that a move is still a long way off. Man City are also credited with an interest.
Recent reports have suggested that PSG could demand as much as €35 million for Donnarumma this summer, but it remains to be seen if his admirers are willing to pay that much, given that they could open talks over a free transfer in January.
Fabrizio Romano reports that the relationship between Donnarumma and PSG is now 'completely broken' and that a move this summer is the 'most likely' scenario.
