Man Utd go 'ALL OUT' for €70m star after Romano transfer message
Manchester United are set to go “all out” for Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez, according to a bombshell report from Spain.
The 22-year-old only started 12 La Liga matches last season, due to competition from the likes of Pedri, Frenkie de Jong and Dani Olmo, and Man Utd are now working on a €70 million proposal.
That is according to Fichajes, who state that Fermin has emerged as Man Utd’s priority midfield target amid their pursuit of reinforcements ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
Barcelona are eager to retain the Spain international, however they could reportedly be forced to consider a sale due to their ongoing financial woes.
Fermin scored eight goals and provided 10 assists in 46 appearances last season, and Fichajes claim that Man Utd view him as a key target, with the club determined to sign a replacement for the departed Christian Eriksen.
Fabrizio Romano confirms Fermin Lopez to Man Utd truth
Despite Fichajes’ report, football transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano recently confirmed that Man Utd aren’t pursuing a deal for Fermin.
“I can tell you that Man Utd respect Fermin Lopez, but they're not in for him. No negotiations, no talks - Fermin Lopez is fully focused on this important season at Barcelona," he told his YouTube channel last week.
“He extended his contract just seven, eight months ago and Barcelona are not actively trying to sell Fermin Lopez.”
Although a move for Fermin has been ruled out, Man Utd are interested in signing a new central midfielder this summer and they are currently eager to land Brighton & Hove Albion star Carlos Baleba, as per multiple reports.
The Cameroon international is firmly on Man Utd’s radar, although Brighton chairman Paul Barber has confirmed that he is yet to receive an official approach from the Red Devils.
