Fabrizio Romano announces Man Utd's next transfer
Manchester United forward Rasmus Hojlund has agreed a move to Napoli, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Denmark international is set to return to Italy after all. The former Atalanta man was in talks with AC Milan earlier this summer, but he ultimately rejected a move to the Rossoneri.
The Serie A giants have now completed a deal for Chelsea outcast Christopher Nkunku, while Hojlund is on his way to the South of Italy to link up with reigning champions Napoli.
On Friday evening, it was revealed that Man Utd had reached an agreement with Napoli for a loan with an obligation to make the deal permanent next summer.
However, a full agreement with Hojlund was still pending when the club-to-club accord was struck. The situation has now been resolved, with Fabrizio Romano announcing that this move is essentially done.
Hojlund set for Napoli
The transfer insider reports that all parties have agreed on the modalities of the deal. Hojlund has been authorised to travel to Naples to complete his medical within the next 24 hours.
Napoli's obligation will be triggered if they manage to qualify for the Champions League. The initial loan fee paid to Man Utd amounts to around €6m, while it will cost them an additional €44m to sign him permanently.
This €50m package is firmly in line with Man Utd's asking price, which makes up for the fact that they will only receive €46m from Chelsea for Alejandro Garnacho after an initial demand of €80m earlier this summer.
The sale of Hojlund will be crucial for Man Utd, given their concerns over the Premier League's Profitability and Sustainability Rules. With the purchase obligation set to be triggered during the season, the Red Devils will be able to add the €50m fee to their accounts before the 30 June deadline.
