The former England international is closing in on a move to Italy. Although Juventus have been linked with Sancho all summer, his next destination appears to be the capital.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Roma had begun exploring a move for the 25-year-old winger. Initial reservations about his price quickly disappeared, with Sky Sports reporting that head coach Gian Piero Gasperini is a 'key driver of this potential deal.'

Roma firmed up their interest in Sancho and submitted a formal offer to Man Utd for an initial loan with an obligation to purchase him for around €23 million next summer.

Already on Friday morning, reports emerged claiming that the Red Devils were ready to accept this offer, and transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that a deal is close.

Sancho deal hinges on personal terms

Speaking in his latest YouTube video, Romano corroborated that Man Utd are set to accept Roma's offer as it is 'the best proposal' they have received for Sancho this summer. However, personal terms with the winger still need to be agreed.

"The update of today is that Man Utd would be ready to accept Roma's proposal for Sancho: £20m, loan with obligation," Romano explained. "Now, the deal depends on Sancho because for Man Utd this is the best proposal they have received this summer for Sancho.

"£20m, it's a loan with an obligation, but it's almost guaranteed. Way easier compared to the deal with Chelsea. So in this case, club-to-club, there are] no problems and [it is] quite advanced. Now, it depends on Sancho.

"Sancho has to decide what he wants to do. Over the week, Sancho opened the doors to a potential move to Italy, but one thing is to open the doors, another thing is to agree personal terms, especially for a player like Sancho with a big salary."
