'Anything can happen' - Amorim admits Garnacho could STAY at Man Utd
Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has admitted that Alejandro Garnacho could be reintegrated at Old Trafford if his proposed move to Chelsea falls through.
The Argentina winger has agreed personal terms with Enzo Maresca’s side and he is pushing to complete a move to the west London giants before Transfer Deadline Day slams shut on 1 September.
However, Chelsea are yet to finalise a deal with Man Utd, with the Blues currently prioritising player sales, and the transfer could therefore collapse if an agreement cannot be reached.
Garnacho is one of several members of the ‘Bomb Squad’ at Man Utd, alongside Jadon Sancho, Tyrell Malacia and Antony, and Amorim has revealed his discontent at their current position.
“Again I know that it’s not a good thing to have players in this situation but it’s clear they want to play at a different club, that’s clear,” Amorim told reporters ahead of Man Utd’s clash against Fulham on Saturday.
“We try to arrange everything for both parts to be happy. I try to have the training with the guys that I think are going to be the future, the other guys are training and preparing for the next chapter.”
Amorim then admitted that the current members of Man Utd’s ‘Bomb Squad’ could be reintegrated at Old Trafford if they fail to secure a transfer away from the club before the end of Deadline Day.
“When the window closes, it’s a different history,” the Red Devils boss admitted. “When the window closes, we have to receive the players. Then a new life and anything can happen.”
Alejandro Garnacho to join Chelsea?
Garnacho is desperate to join Chelsea before the summer transfer window closes, although the Blues currently value the 21-year-old at just €35 million - which falls significantly lower than Man Utd’s asking price of close to €60m.
However, the Red Devils are aware that he wants to leave the club and Chelsea are confident that an agreement will be struck soon.
Garnacho notched 21 goal contributions in 58 appearances across all competitions last season, and he is set to compete with Jamie Gittens for a starting berth under Maresca if he completes his desired move to Stamford Bridge.
