Liverpool 'ready to bid again' for Marc Guehi - Fabrizio Romano
Liverpool have prepared a new bid for Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Eagles captain continues to be pursued by the Reds as a priority target for the centre-back position. Ibrahima Konate has started the season poorly and is out of contract next summer, so Liverpool would be well-advised to sign another Premier League-proven defender.
Talks over a deal for Guehi have been ongoing for weeks, but Crystal Palace have so far refused to budge from a valuation that Liverpool consider too high for a player who can negotiate a pre-contract in January.
Guehi, for his part, is keen on the move to Anfield, and Fabrizio Romano continues to insist that he already has an agreement with Liverpool on personal terms.
Palace boss Oliver Glasner has pleaded with Steve Parish not to sell Guehi before Thursday's Conference League clash with Fredrikstad, and it seems unlikely that there will be any big developments ahead of this fixture.
Liverpool ready to bid for Guehi again
However, that is not to say that the situation has hit an impasse. At least that is what Romano reports, with the transfer insider emphatically reiterating that Liverpool are prepared to close this deal imminently if given encouragement by Palace.
Romano states that Liverpool have a new bid worth more than €34 million (£30m) ready to be submitted, but the understanding is that they are waiting for Palace to secure an adequate replacement.
Of course, there is also no guarantee that they would accept Liverpool's offer, but Parish has already confirmed that Guehi is expected to be sold before the deadline given that he has no intention of extending his contract.
Romano recently revealed that Palace have entered the race for teenage Toulouse defender Jaydee Canvot, who is valued at around €20m by the French club. Aston Villa had a bid rejected for him earlier this summer, but Palace have seemingly yet to make an offer.
