Liverpool have reportedly identified their long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah ahead of their talismanic forward’s likely exit next summer.

Salah extended his contract in April until 2027 but FootballTransfers understands that the 33-year-old is likely to finally make a move to the Saudi Pro League next summer, having been strongly pursued by Saudi Arabia as a marquee signing for the last two years.

Liverpool are believed to be relaxed over Salah’s future and would not stand in the way of his departure, particularly as they can demand a significant fee for the Egyptian and continue their rebuild under Arne Slot.

Consequently, Liverpool are aiming high and a report by ‘BayernSpace’ on X has claimed that the Premier League side have view Michael Olise as their ‘ideal’ successor to Salah.

Olise only joined Bayern Munich last summer for €53 million and had a standout debut season, which has led to reported interest from Manchester City and Chelsea, particularly amid speculation of a release clause in his contract.

Bayern director Max Eberl is alleged to have asked the club offer Olise a new contract to remove the clause but this request was denied as the Bundesliga giants do not wish to increase the 23-year-old’s wages so soon after his arrival, potentially giving Liverpool a pathway to his signing next summer.

Bayern open to cashing in on ‘exceptional talent’ Olise

Olise netted 12 goals and 15 assists in his first season in the Bundesliga, earning him the league’s Rookie of the Season award and seemingly proving his credentials at the highest level after an impressive stint with Crystal Palace.

Bayern are said to not be ‘concerned’ about losing Olise next summer since his departure would allow the club to recoup a substantial fee for the Frenchman even with his importance to the team.

Bayern’s sporting director Christoph Freund spoke on the speculation surrounding Olise, saying: "As a matter of principle, we never talk about the contents of the contract. If I were to say something along those lines, then we would talk about it.

"Our aim is that Michael will stay at FC Bayern for a long time. He's an exceptional talent."
