Inter Milan mocked after HUMILIATING Akanji transfer GAFFE
Inter Milan have been mocked after they introduced new signing Manuel Akanji as a Frenchman.
The Nerazzurri completed the signing of Akanji on Deadline Day just hours before the summer transfer window closed.
Akanji joined Inter on loan for the season with the option to make the deal permanent for around €15 million.
The option will become an obligation if Inter win the Scudetto this season and Akanji plays a set number of matches, believed to be around 50 per cent.
Akanji is a replacement for Benjamin Pavard, who left Inter on Deadline Day to join Marseille on loan with an option to buy.
Inter's Akanji gaffe
However, upon signing Akanji, Inter committed an almighty gaffe that has seen them widely mocked on social media.
On their official social media channels, Inter announced the signing by introducing Akanji as a Frenchman.
Akanji was presented with an image of him signing his Inter contract together with a caption that read: "A new Interista" with a smiling emoji and a French flag.

Of course, Akanji is not French.
He was born in Switzerland to a Swiss mother and Nigerian father and has played 71 times for the Swiss national team.
The gaffe saw Inter widely mocked on X and other social media channels, leading to Inter deleting the post to save further embarrassment.
Akanji has joined Inter after three successful years at Man City.
He made 136 appearances and scored five goals for the club, winning seven major trophies - including two Premier League titles and a Champions League.
The Champions League victory was against Inter in 2023.
He will be united with Switzerland national teammate Yann Sommer at San Siro.
