Fabrizio Romano says that Manchester United still hope to complete at least one more transfer before the window shuts, with the Red Devils apparently making strong progress.

United have struggled to settle upon a regular goalkeeper since David De Gea left on a free transfer in 2023, with Andre Onana, his replacement, often coming under fire.

Fresh scrutiny was placed upon the role last weekend, when an error from Altay Bayindir sent the Red Devils to a 1-0 loss against Arsenal in their opening Premier League match of the season.

With Gianluigi Donnarumma on the market at PSG, many United fans have expressed a wish for the club to target the Italian, but Romano has revealed they have a different idea.

Ruben Amorim’s side have long followed Royal Antwerp shot-stopper Senne Lammens, and Romano claims that he is the player who is being chased.

The transfer insider suggests that talks are advancing in a promising manner for the 23-year-old.

Romano says: “Understand Manchester United are still working on deal to sign Senne Lammens, talks underway.

“Personal terms are almost agreed and Man United are in active talks for the Belgian goalkeeper.

“Man Utd try to anticipate more clubs from France and Italy, also based on exits.”

How good is Senne Lammens?

Lammens played 40 times in the Jupiler Pro League for Antwerp last season, keeping nine clean sheets and conceding 52 goals.

He has a reputation for being a decent shot-stopper and also a keeper who likes to dominate his box by coming for crosses.

Rather than going into the starting XI straight away, data analytics firm SciSports suggest he would be better suited to being a backup to Onana when he joins the club while the experts also feel he is unlikely to be good enough to start at Old Trafford.

Although this is a concerning message, the Man Utd scouts have clearly seen something in the Lammens, who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €11m, that makes him a player worth pursuing.
