Chelsea deal hanging by a thread after 'INSULTING' bid - Fabrizio Romano
The good relationship between Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund is becoming increasingly strained after an 'insulting' bid for Carney Chukwuemeka, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The England youth international is expected to leave the Blues this summer after spending the second half of last season on loan at Dortmund. Chukwuemeka is said to have grown disillusioned with Chelsea's policy of easily discarding players, and he believes that he has no future at the club.
Talks over a departure have been slow to get going, however. Dortmund managed to agree a loan extension in the early June window, but this only applied to the Club World Cup.
After a few weeks of radio silence, and with deals for priority targets like Facundo Buonanotte proving difficult to realise, the Black and Yellow have reopened talks with Chelsea for Chukwuemeka.
Earlier this window, when the two clubs were negotiating the deal that ultimately took Jamie Gittens to Chelsea, BVB boss Sebastian Kehl said that there is a 'good relationship' with the West London club, but the Chukwuemeka saga is testing this affinity.
Chelsea reject insulting bids
According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have 'immediately rejected' a bid for a loan move with a €20 million obligation to purchase the midfielder next summer. Dortmund also offered the Blues a 'heavy' sell-on percentage.
The transfer insider reports that Chelsea have deemed the bid 'insulting' and that they are 'not happy at all' with the proposed formula as they want cash for the 21-year-old this summer.
The player has been prioritising a return to Dortmund despite interest from other clubs, but it remains to be seen if the two sides can find common ground. The Bundesliga outfit did not give Chelsea a discount on Gittens, so they are not getting one on Chukwuemeka.
Meanwhile, Dortmund appear to already be looking at potential alternatives, with Sky Germany reporting that they have submitted a loan offer with an option to buy for Man City youngster Claudio Echeverri. It is unclear if Man City would accept a permanent element in his loan.
