Arsenal send scouts as Man Utd plan €40m bid for ex-Ruben Amorim pupil
Manchester United are preparing a €40 million offer for Sporting Lisbon centre back Zeno Debast.
That is according to Fichajes, who report that United are keen to reunite Debast with his former Sporting manager Ruben Amorim.
It was Amorim who signed Debast for Sporting from Anderlecht in the summer of 2024 just months before the manager left to take over at Man Utd.
Amorim remains a big fan of the player and United are formulating an offer for the highly appreciated central defender.
Debast to Man Utd?
Debast has a release clause in his Sporting contract worth €80m but United are confident that they can negotiate a much lower price.
A move in 2026 is very much on the cards as Amorim wishes to strengthen his centre back options.
United will face competition, though, as Fichajes reports that Arsenal have sent scouts to watch Debast recently.
Aston Villa, Borussia Dortmund and Napoli are also interested.
Debast came through the youoth academy at Anderlecht and went on to make 96 appearances for the first team.
He moved to Sporting in 2024 for €15.5m plus €5.5m in bonuses.
He has since made over 50 appearances for the club and won the Primeira Liga title and the Taca de Portugal.
Debast has been capped 22 times by Belgium and was part of the 2022 World Cup and Euro 2024 squads.
