Man Utd in Isak HIJACK as Liverpool agreement ‘100% done’
Manchester United have made a late attempt to sign Alexander Isak, despite an agreement with Liverpool being “100% done”, according to transfer expert Florian Plettenberg.
Newcastle knocked back Liverpool’s first bid of €137.5 million (£120m) for Isak, prompting the Anfield club to consider leaving negotiations.
This would leave the Magpies in a difficult position given that their 25-year-old striker has flown to Spain to train in Real Sociedad’s facilities in a bid to force a transfer.
But now the situation has taken a surprising twist, with Sky Sport Deutschland transfer expert Plettenberg reporting that Man Utd have asked about Isak’s situation.
“Understand Alexander Isak has once again made it clear that he only wants to join Liverpool,” Plettenberg reported on X.
“Even Manchester United made an enquiry in recent days, but Isak turned it down. He only wants Liverpool.
“The player’s camp remains optimistic that an agreement can be reached in this transfer window after a £120m bid was rejected by Newcastle.
“Isak’s agreement with Liverpool until 2031 is 100% done.”
Newcastle are thought to want at least €170m (£150m) before they consider selling Isak, who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €116m.
More good news for Reds
Liverpool have been getting increasingly positive signals that a deal for Isak can be struck.
The latest of these arrived on Saturday, when it was revealed that Newcastle have taken concrete steps to replace their ace striker.
The Magpies have launched a bid for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, with Eddie Howe’s side offering a package worth €80m to beat Man Utd to the Slovenia international striker. Reports in Sesko’s homeland, meanwhile, indicate that he will complete the proposed transfer to Newcastle, although The Athletic’s David Ornstein reports that he has not made up his mind yet.
With Isak set on moving to Liverpool and Sesko increasingly looking like Newcastle is his destination, the summer transfer window continues to be complicated for Man Utd.
