The Red Devils were expected to be extremely active during the 2025 summer transfer window, despite failing to qualify for Europe, in a bid to provide Amorim with a squad capable of challenging near the top of the Premier League table.

Man Utd completed the signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha during the pre-Club World Cup transfer window, but their business has dried up immensely since then.

Cunha has been joined at Old Trafford by youngsters Diego Leon and Enzo Kana-Biyik, however Man Utd are yet to sign a number of much-needed reinforcements, while they have been unable to offload the five members of their current ‘bomb squad.’

Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrell Malacia and Antony all want to leave the club this summer, but Man Utd have been unable to find suitors and they face the prospect of being forced to accept cut-price fees for all five players.

In addition, Amorim has failed to sign a new striker, having missed out on Liam Delap, Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen, while they are yet to add a goalkeeper, a centre-back, a wing-back or a central midfielder to the squad.

Man Utd suffer transfer blow

Man Utd have now been informed that top midfield target Morten Hjulmand has agreed to join Juventus this summer.

That is according to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, who claim that Hjulmand could move to Turin for a fee of between €30-40 million, despite the fact his current contract at Sporting CP includes an €80m release clause.

The Denmark international has been identified as a key target by Juventus and he has prioritised a summer move to Igor Tudor’s side after a two-year spell at Sporting.

Juventus are now locked in negotiations with Sporting as they look to finalise an agreement for Hjulmand to return to Serie A following a spell at Lecce from 2021 to 2023.

Man Utd had identified Hjulmand as a possible midfield option following his time together with Amorim at Sporting, but they look set to miss out on his signature and they will be forced to pursue an alternative target as they look to land a replacement for Christian Eriksen.
