Liverpool reject Bayern Munich bid for Luis Diaz - Ornstein
Liverpool have reportedly rejected a €67.5 million opening offer from Bayern Munich for Colombia winger Luis Diaz.
The 28-year-old has emerged as a top target for Vincent Kompany’s side following their failure to sign either Florian Wirtz or Nico Williams, and they submitted their first official bid on Tuesday.
That is according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, who confirmed that Liverpool swiftly rejected Bayern’s €67.5m proposal as they value Diaz at more than €100m.
Arne Slot’s side reportedly have no intention of selling the Colombia international this summer, but Diaz has made it clear that he would like to leave Anfield ahead of the 2025-26 campaign amid significant interest from both Bayern and Barcelona.
The former FC Porto winger has two years remaining on his current contract with the Reds and he is unwilling to sign an extension as things stand, despite the fact that he is seen as a key part of the club’s future project under Slot.
Diaz scored 17 goals and provided eight assists in 50 appearances across all competitions last season, and he played a pivotal role as Liverpool won the Premier League title for just the second time in their history.
However, he is eager to leave the club this summer, and Bayern are pushing to finalise an agreement with Liverpool after the departure of Leroy Sane on a Bosman deal to Galatasaray.
Liverpool’s summer signings
Liverpool have already completed the signings of Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Armin Pesci, Freddie Woodman and the aforementioned Wirtz so far this summer, but they remain in the market for a new centre forward as they look to sign a replacement for Darwin Nunez.
Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike are regarded as two of their top targets, although Newcastle United are determined to retain the former, while they are also in talks to sign the latter.
If Diaz is sold to Bayern, then Liverpool may be forced to sign a new winger as his replacement.
