Liverpool submit OFFICIAL offer for Alexander Isak
Newcastle United have reportedly rejected a €115 million (£100m) offer from Liverpool for star striker Alexander Isak.
The Sweden international has been identified as Arne Slot’s top centre forward target and Liverpool recently made an official approach as they look to secure his signature ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
The Reds have now lodged an opening offer worth €115m for Isak, as per transfer expert Nicolo Schira, although Newcastle swiftly rejected this bid as they have no intention of selling the 25-year-old this summer.
Isak’s current contract at St James’ Park isn’t due to expire until 2028 and Eddie Howe’s side are determined to retain him as they look to establish themselves as Champions League regulars.
However, Liverpool are eager to finalise a deal this summer and reports indicate they are prepared to offer a club-record transfer fee of €139m (£120m) in order to secure his signature.
Their opening bid has reportedly fallen short of that mark and the Reds will need to submit an improved offer if they are to convince Newcastle to sanction a sale.
Hugo Ekitike identified as Alexander Isak alternative
If Liverpool are unable to agree a deal for Isak this summer, they are expected to sign Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike instead.
Ekitike scored 22 goals and provided 12 assists in 48 appearances across all competitions last season, and he is seen as the ideal forward to replace Darwin Nunez at Anfield if Isak is unattainable.
The former Paris Saint-Germain striker has four years remaining on his current contract at Eintracht Frankfurt, while his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) stands at €71.1m.
