Liverpool and Arsenal could face shock interest from a Premier League rival in Rodrygo after Real Madrid opened the door to the winger’s departure this summer.

Rodrygo has been considering his future after a disappointing season with Real which left the 24-year-old disillusioned about his standing alongside the club’s stars such as Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior.

Real have told Rodrygo they will not stand in his way if a fair offer comes in for his services, although they are likely to value him at around €90 million.

Rodrygo is believed to be prioritising remaining in Madrid but he will not make a formal decision over his future until meeting with Xabi Alonso in the coming weeks, with the belief that he will not object to his departure if he is allowed to decide where and how.

That is according to Spanish outlet AS, who claim that Tottenham are now aiming to take advantage of hesitancy from other clubs to try and convince Rodrygo to join them as a potential ‘spearhead’ to replace Son Heung-Min, who could leave this summer.

Spurs are claimed to have ‘request authorisation’ to speak to Rodrygo directly but a deal ‘won’t be simple’ due to the asking price and with the player not thought to be convinced by a move to the club.

Rodrygo could be set for Real Madrid stay

Real Madrid were expected to field strong interest in Rodrygo but they may find themselves without many candidates as the transfer window approaches its final month, with teams having already moved on to other options.

The Athletic have claimed that Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea are not considering Rodrygo’s signature at this time, while nothing is said to be ‘serious with Liverpool’s interest as they pursue a deal for Alexander Isak.

Arsenal had pushed the most for the Brazilian but they are expected to prioritise other positions and players such as Eberechi Eze, with a move for Rodrygo only likely if they sell Gabriel Martinelli or Leandro Trossard.

Rodrygo is also described as not being interested in a move to Tottenham and the suggestions of their interest has also been played down, indicating that the forward may end up remaining with Real this summer barring another twist in the tale.
