EXCLUSIVE: Man Utd pursue Goncalo Inacio loan deal
Manchester United are weighing up a summer move for Sporting CP defender Goncalo Inacio as Ruben Amorim eyes a reunion with the Portugal international, FootballTransfers has been told.
The 23-year-old has been linked with an Old Trafford switch for several months and we understand that Man Utd are set to propose an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy for €40 million.
The Red Devils have been monitoring Inacio for some time, but they have intensified their pursuit since the appointment of Amorim last year as he views the Sporting star as an ideal player to strengthen Man Utd’s backline.
Sporting have previously resisted interest in Inacio, however sources now suggest they are willing to listen to offers this summer.
Borussia Dortmund are also interested in the Portugal defender, but Man Utd hold a key advantage in the race for his signature due to Amorim’s personal relationship with the player.
The Red Devils are eager to bring a new central defender to Old Trafford following the retirement of Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof’s departure on a free transfer. Inacio has now emerged as a top target and we have been told that Man Utd are hoping to finalise a loan deal with an obligation to buy clause included.
Inacio has made 213 senior appearances for Sporting, since making his debut for the first-team back in 2020, while he has helped the club win the past two Portuguese top flight titles.
His current contract with Rui Borges’ side is due to expire in 2027.
Man Utd want Bryan Mbeumo
The Cameroon international is a priority target for the Old Trafford outfit, however Man Utd are yet to match Brentford’s price tag, which currently stands in excess of €80m.
