Chelsea 'definitely still interested' in Cole Palmer's best friend - Exciting transfer verdict lands
Chelsea’s transfer window is certainly not over, with the West London side tipped to make a big-money move for one of the Premier League’s brightest stars.
The Blues have already signed nearly €250 million of talent, but Enzo Maresca’s side are certainly not stopping there and are targeting several more star players before the transfer window shuts.
It has now been confirmed that they are still interested in signing Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers, who is Cole Palmer’s best friend.
Matt Law of the Daily Telegraph confirmed the Blues ongoing interest in the attacker on the London Is Blue Podcast.
“I still think in Chelsea’s absolute dream perfect, they’d probably sign Morgan Rogers and they’re definitely still interested in him,” Law explained.
“The issue they’ve got is he is the one player who Villa are telling everyone: ‘No, we’re not selling him.’ Clearly, the price would have to be astronomically high on Rogers.”
One thing that could tip the scales in Chelsea’s favour is Aston Villa’s delicate position with regards the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
“Even if that stance were to change, it would probably only change very, very late in the window if Villa were forced into it because of other circumstances,” Law admitted, giving the Stamford Bridge side some prospect of a deal.
Rogers’ Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) is €66.2m but Chelsea have been linked with a swap deal to keep the price, which is likely to be significantly higher than this, down.
Chelsea to sign three more?
Fabrizio Romano has already indicated that Chelsea are following up other lines of enquiry, with Jorrel Hato close to arriving in the defence, Xavi Simons being pursued for the attacking midfield area and even a move for Alejandro Garnacho still possible.
So while Rogers is on Chelsea’s shortlist, the deal still looks something of a long shot at the moment, despite the Blues’ obvious admiration for the Aston Villa and England star.
