Chelsea are expected to make at least one bid for Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho before the window closes, according to a report.

The Argentine is looking for a new club after finding himself frozen out by Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim. Garnacho has been told to seek a new employer by the Portuguese tactician and was given extra time off before pre-season to allow him to explore his options.

However, so far, there has been precious little in the way of concrete developments regarding a move. Man Utd headed into the summer demanding as much as €80 million for the 21-year-old but have been forced to lower their asking price.

It is now thought that Garnacho could be available for around €50m-€60m, and this has attracted the attention of Chelsea, who are long-standing admirers of the winger.

The Blues already eyed a move in January but refused to proceed with their interest after being quoted a €70m price tag. With Man Utd getting increasingly desperate to offload Garnacho, Chelsea now sense an opportunity.

Chelsea to bid for Garnacho

According to The Telegraph, Chelsea are fully expected to make at least one formal attempt at signing Garnacho this summer by placing a bid for him.

The report states that the Blues have carried out 'background checks' on the youngster and have no concerns about his character, despite some of his antics at Man Utd, such as criticising his managers in interviews and on social media.

Chelsea are keen to test Man Utd's resolve with an offer, but it is thought that talks between the two clubs will only accelerate after the Red Devils have sorted out their striker situation.

In the meantime, Chelsea will look to offload unwanted players like Christopher Nkunku to raise funds for Garnacho. The Blues have been told by UEFA that they must finish the window with a positive balance, so they need to cash in on their 'Bomb Squad.'
