Gyokeres wants Gunners move this week

Gyokeres is determined that his move to Arsenal is completed as soon as possible. Record reports that the Sweden striker wants to be in Mikel Arteta’s squad to play in the tour of the Far East.

For Gyokeres to feature in the club’s opening match of that trip against AC Milan in Singapore on 23 July, he has less than a week for the move to go through. It is questionable just how much of a role he might have to play in that match, even if the transfer is completed, given that he has not been training with Sporting CP.

Arsenal are close to securing a deal with the Lisbon club for Gyokeres, which is so far the sticking point to the move.

Record states that the sticking point is in relation to the €10 million bonuses included in the deal.

The Gunners are willing to pay €63.5m upfront for the player, but it’s the bonus payments that are the sticking points.

There are set to be four such payouts worth €2.5m each. Sporting want these to arrive after he has played 20 and then 40 matches in England. Champions League qualification would trigger another payment and a further 20-games in his second season is the last of their demands.

Arsenal want one of these demands to be replaced by something harder to attain. It is claimed this blockage could be resolved within hours.

On his YouTube channel, the football transfer news expert explained: “I told you at the weekend that Arsenal were making progress on his contract talks. Now they want to complete the agreement with Nwaneri this week. I can tell you that it’s almost done.

“Ethan Nwaneri is set to sign a new deal at Arsenal. It’s an important deal for the Gunners. There were clubs in the Bundesliga who were very aggressively trying to sign Nwaneri, strong interest from Chelsea, so many discussions took place. But the player has shown his love for Arsenal. Now the contract is set to be signed soon.”

What’s happening with Rodrygo?

Arsenal are one of two Premier League clubs in the hunt for Real Madrid winger Rodrygo, though according to AS, Liverpool are in pole position to sign the Brazil international winger.

The Anfield club are ready to launch a huge bid for the 24-year-old, who is rated around the €100m mark by Los Blancos.

Arne Slot’s side are said to be willing to “do everything in their power” to get a transfer over the line.

Bayern Munich are also willing to bid €100m, but Rodrygo prefers a move to the Premier League, putting Arsenal ahead of the Bundesliga side.
