Arsenal are reportedly edging closer to reaching an agreement with RB Leipzig over a €75 million summer deal for Benjamin Sesko.

The Slovenia international has been identified as one of Mikel Arteta’s primary transfer targets for the 2025 summer window, along with Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres, although the Gunners are yet to agree a fee with Leipzig.

Arsenal currently value Sesko at around €70m, as per reports, while Leipzig have been demanding a fee of at least €80m for arguably their most prized asset.

However, CaughtOffside claim that both clubs are close to reaching a compromise over a €75m transfer.

Sesko scored 21 goals and provided six assists in 45 appearances across all competitions last season and he is viewed as a player capable of firing Arsenal to their first major trophy since 2020.

Although Arsenal are reportedly close to agreeing a fee with Leipzig, they are yet to finalise terms with Sesko himself. Rumours suggest that his current wage demands are too lofty for the Gunners, while he is asking for a release clause to be included in his Arsenal contract, as exclusively revealed by The Transfers Podcast.

Arteta’s side are unwilling to match these requests as things stand, which means the transfer is currently at an impasse, despite advanced negotiations with RB Leipzig.

Arsenal to sign a new striker

If Arsenal are unable to finalise a deal for Sesko, they will intensify their pursuit of the aforementioned Gyokeres - who has informed Sporting CP that he will never play for the club again in a bid to force a summer transfer.

The Sweden international has set his sights on joining Arsenal ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, although Manchester United could pounce if the Gunners fail to reach an agreement with Sporting.

The Transfers Podcast understands that Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins and Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson are also being monitored by the hierarchy at the Emirates Stadium.
