Man Utd 'reappear' in race for former Premier League striker with €97m transfer 'on the table'

Manchester United have ‘reappeared’ in the race for a former Premier League star who has been the subject of a €97 million proposal this summer.
United have been looking for financially efficient ways to strengthen their attack this summer after missing out on Champions League football for next season, which has limited Ruben Amorim’s spending potential.
The club’s search for cost-effective transfers has reportedly led back to Moise Kean, with Italian outlet Gazzetta claiming that United are ‘there, more than before’ for the Fiorentina striker.
Kean is coming off the back of an impressive season for Fiorentina, where he scored 19 Serie A goals, and the 25-year-old has a release clause of €52m in his contract, which has seen United track his progress intensely in recent months along with Arsenal.
The situation could be complicated by an offer ‘on the table’ from Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah, which could reach a total cost of €97m with the release clause and a salary for Kean of €45m across three years.
However, with Kean having eyes on the World Cup next summer, the Italian may hold out for United to formalise their interest in the hopes of remaining in Europe and boosting his profile to secure a spot in new manager Gennaro Gattuso’s squad.
Man Utd may miss out on Kean transfer
Kean’s release clause is only understood to be valid for the first 15 days of July and Fiorentina are desperate to keep hold of a player who only joined them last year for €13m.

The situation is said to be ‘open’ for Kean, who is thought to be happy in Florence, while his release clause will remain active in the same conditions for the remaining four years of his contract, giving the player further opportunities to leave down the line.
United, meanwhile, have already brought in Matheus Cunha for €74 million, and they are aiming to sign a new striker in addition to Bryan Mbeumo, although Brentford’s demands of €80m may see Amorim’s funds for a number nine severely limited.
United are hoping to boost their budget by cashing in on the likes of Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho but the short window to sign Kean may make a deal difficult to conclude unless a major sale is closed in the coming weeks.
